OAX
An End-to-End Open Source 5G Software Lab

OpenAirX-Labs (OAX) is the North American home for development, testing, and integration of the OpenAirInterface (OAI) Software Alliance’s open source 5G standalone software stack. OAX will introduce a benchmark, end-to-end 5G implementation and provide development and test status across multiple identified metrics. Once initial development and testing are complete, the open source 5G software will be instantiated as a new software profile on the PAWR wireless testbeds. It will be made available to researchers for the ongoing exploration of 5G spectrum sharing, network automation, and other advanced wireless technologies.

Founding industry partners for OAX include Facebook, Interdigital, NI, Qualcomm, Radisys, and Xilinx – all part of the larger PAWR Industry Consortium. Federal funding for OAX activities is provided by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering [DOD OUSD (R&E)] through awards under the PAWR program.
