The POWDER team is pleased to launch a new training series to support the growing POWDER user community. Beginning in Fall 2025, the series will cover core platform concepts and workflows, with domain-specific training sessions planned for Spring 2026.
The Fall sessions will run via Zoom on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. MT, with each session lasting 1–2 hours. Hands-on sessions will be capped at 20-25 participants to allow for guided interaction.
Participants are encouraged to attend the full sequence, as topics will progress from introductory concepts to advanced workflows.
If you are interested, fill out this form to sign up for the planned Fall 2025 sessions, and to indicate your interest in the topics planned for Spring 2026.

Spring 2026 Training Topics
- Wireless communication experimentation on POWDER: Presentation and hands-on sessions on wireless communication concepts (e.g., signals, noise, path loss, transmitters/receivers, modulation, channel impulse response, OFDM etc.)
- End-to-end 5G/NextG experimentation on POWDER: Presentation and hands-on sessions on 5G/NextG architectures, components and protocols and the use of open source software stacks (e.g., srsRAN, OpenAirInterface, Open5GS etc.)
- O-RAN experimentation on POWDER: Presentation and hands-on sessions on O-RAN architecture, components and protocols and the use of open source software stacks (e.g., SD-RAN, OSC near-RT/non-RT RIC etc. + open source 5G/NextG stacks)
- End-to-end O-RAN + ML experimentation on POWDER: Presentation and hands-on sessions on using the O-RAN architecture for ML-based control RAN control (using open source O-RAN/5G/NextG stacks together with open source ML frameworks such as HuggingFace, PyTorch, ONNX etc.)
- Spectrum sharing/management experimentation on POWDER: Presentation and hands-on sessions on using open source spectrum management tools and frameworks (e.g., OpenZMS, Sionna etc)
